Thanks for coming to talk about the Braves-Yankees game guys, feel free to talk about the game. I'll post info on the game until the first pitch a few moments after 7:00 EST. Here I'll also post the highlights of the game as they happen, and you can discuss them down there in the comments section. This is the first game hosting of the 2009 season, so here's to a good one!

5:51 PM EST: I'm sure many of you know this, but for those that don't, Mark Teixeira is now the leading vote-getter at the first base position for the '09 AL All Star team. It was probably thanks to my extra 22 or 23 votes yesterday. Woooo!

6:23 PM EST: Lineups!

Yankees:

1. Derek Jeter - SS - .301 AVG

2. Nick Swisher - RF - .245 AVG

3. Mark Teixeira - 1B - .286

4. Alex Rodriguez - 3B - .213

5. Robinson Cano - 2B - .305

6. Jorge Posada - C - .280

7. Melky Cabrera - LF - .282

8. Brett Gardner - CF - .284

9. Chien-Ming Wang - P - .000 (Career)

Braves:

1. Nate McClouth - CF - .264 (8 for last 21)

2. Yunel Escobar - SS - .292

3. Chipper Jones - 3B - .299

4. Brian McCann - C - .318

5. Garret Anderson - LF - .285

6. Casey Kotchman - 1B - .264

7. Jeff Francouer - RF - .249

8. Kelly Johnson - 2B - .225

9. Tommy Hanson - P - .200

6:56 PM EST: By the way, the song of the day is Simple Design by Breaking Benjamin.

7:06 PM EST: Chien Ming Wang has only made one career start against the Braves. His line:

8.0 INNINGS 7 Hits 2 RUNS  2 ER 1 BB  2 K No decision

7:11 PM EST: Derek Jeter grounds out to third for the first out, a two pitch out. 0-0

7:15 PM EST: Yankees go down in order, 1-2-3 in the first inning off Tommy Hanson. Braves coming to bat against Wang. 0-0.

7:21 PM EST: 3 ground balls, 3 outs for Wang, great inning. Nice to see that outta the sinker baller. 0-0

7:38 PM EST: Yankees work the bases loaded with 2 outs, but are unable to score as Chien-Ming Wang chops back to the mound. Well, he hit the ball, that's something right? 0-0

7:48 PM EST: Crazy play there, Chien-Ming Wang and Mark Teixeira converge, Wang makes the catch on a chopper, Cano barely gets to first and Wang flips it to 'im for the last out. So he escapes a jam in an odd fashion. 0-0

8:00 PM EST: Cano pops out on the first pitch, a fastball well below the knees. Congratulations Cano, you are indeed more impatient than I am. 0-0

8:11 PM EST: Brian McCann drives in a run with a line drive double to deep left center. Had Posada not called one of the dumbest pitches ever, I wouldn't be telling you this. 1-0 ATL

8:13 PM EST: It escalates. Garret Anderson hurts the Bombers once again with a two run double into the right center field gap. Two well hit doubles. Kotchman softly lines out to end the inning. 3-0 ATL

8:28 PM EST: Swisher finds the perfect way to anger me greatly by grounding out with the bases loaded on the first pitch. 3-0 ATL

9:05 PM EST: Sweet Jesus, Jeter with a double play in a key situation. But I already said "Jeter", so you knew that part. This guy will be the death of me... 3-0 ATL

Yeah, I'm currently writing a blog so I'll be logged in as Metsfanx2 the whole time but Im here..

Hey, EJ. I'll try to stop in during the game but things are pretty busy here. GO YANKS!

Hopefully wang can keep the sinker down. If not... Get Hughes ready fast

Wise, Tobzy, wise. lol

I hope we can be careful with Nate McClouth, the dude is on fiyah.

Any comments on today's Song of the Day?

Metal... yuck

Maybe we can get some runs against this noobie

First pitch 7:10 EST from 6'6" right handed pitching prospect, to the captain, the shortstop Derek Jeter.

And heeere it comes...

Fastball strike. We are underway.

Man, Swishalicious hit that well to dead center. Shoulda hit it more to left center or right center.

And boos for Mark Teixeira. What idiots. HE GOT TRADED YOU DOOFUSES!

Hmm... That was fast

Seriously. 3 well hit balls, but at'em balls, none the less.

Just barely got McClouth, nice throw Cano. Nice out, McClouth beat one in the ground, good sign.

First batter for the Braves, and the umpire screwed the Braves.

No way Jose, I saw out there.

EJ...do you think they re-sign Damon? I'm half/half. How about Hideki?

David price is getting hammered..

Sox down 1-0 to the nats

I think they sign Nady instead of Damon or Matsui, because Nady's probably going to contribute more than Damon and definitely more than Matsui. Plus, Nady's younger. I could be wrong though.

Cano gets hit.

Those Washington Nationals are redhot right now. I KNEW it wasn't just us!

Posada strikes out, what else is new? But it was a great at bat to his credit, and good that Cano advances on a steal.

Sox score 1-1

Need a rbi from melky

Up to Gardner.Wang is probably scared to bat

I wouldn't blame him with the incident from last year.

Hanson's throwing a lot of pitches this inning.

Lol.. hopefully wang walks

Graaah, Wang with an out. lol

Or a weak groundout to the pitcher

I remember when Casey Kotchman was an Angel, he hit a home run last year on Sunday Night BAseball on ESPN. Disappointing what he's done with the Bravos thus far, he's better than that.

Oooh, Kelly Johnson's entrance music is Bulls on Parade...

Sloppy play. Caught a break there

Tobz, do you know where Anthony is?

Exactly why swisher shouldn't be batting 2nd

That's not a typical Nick Swisher at bat, Tobz. It's unfair to judge him on one out.

nope, But i know where jenny is :p

Arod... time for a dp

Nasty pitch there to K McClouth. Two up, two out in thet 3rd.

Where's Jenny? And I was doing something called "eating dinner"

Wow, that's a strange concept, Anthony. I'm hungry.

RBI double for McCann, now the Yankee killer Anderson. This looks bad.

And it is bad, there's a 2 run double...

Sweet God, time for Jeter to screw this scoring opp. up.

No, he won't screw it up..

Jeter shows a rare amount of patience with a walk there, nice at bat. Tommy Hanson is throwing a lot of pitches, so this might be a short outing.

*sigh* Jesus, Wang is pitching great yet we can't score. We suuuck.

Suck is a strong word..

Thanks for being merciful, Anthony.

We gotta score though.

You do. But what inning is it? I'm watching Los Mets

Top of the fifth bro.

This place is dead right now, we need people on here.

We are going thru the same thing rmmbr.

Posada K's to end the top of the 5th inning. Sweet God, we may never win again.

Just be hopeful jeez. Question. Do you agree with this order projection. I think the 2010 NYY should be:
Posada
Cervelli
Teixeira
Cano
Jeter
Rodriguez
Berroa
Damon
Nady
Cabrera
Gardner
Nick Johnson as a reserve..
Burnett, CC, Wang, Pettite and Randy Wolf in the rotation..
Joba and Mariano in the pen..

Disagreed.

Posada should retire, get PJ Pilittere or some backup catcher.

Johnson would be wasted on the bench.

Joba in the rotation, or if he's out of the rotation at least put Hughes in there. For God's sake, don't delay his progress anymore.

Andy Pettitte is probably pitching in his final year, so maybe it can be 4. Joba 5. Hughes or 4. Joba 5. Wolf or 4. Wolf 5. Hughes.

He's a good starter

need a big hit

Posada should not retire. The Yankee organization owes to him to keep him around until he is below average due to how poorly they managed him coming up...And Joba is wasted IMO as a starter. He was a dominant reliever and should have stayed there..

...............nice jeterr.....

Joba is a starter. I don't know if you know this (and clearly you don't) but Joba is, and will be, a starter. Unless something awful happens like he starts sucking or he gets injured, he will be a starter for the rest of his life. He was a starter when he was a kid, in high school, college, and the minor leagues. He was a reliever for a few months.

It's like Mark Teixeira. He has been a first baseman since college, I believe, but he played some outfield and he was pretty good out there. But the Rangers put him at first base and it turned out quite well. So unless something bad happens, Joba is a starting pitcher. Put the argument to rest.

We'll never win this game... this is hopeless...

It is hopeless. We both lose in shutouts. I am aware he is starting. However, what's easier to find? A relief ace or a good fifth starter or solid fourth or middling-to-poor third starter? I'd rather the relief ace and they had one. He's been mediocre I believe (Haven't checked the stats) since they transitioned him. He'll be a reliever eventually..
